Oh my goodness…what a day…Team Peacock packing up and heading out to Sioux Falls…not only do we have the SUPER cool bus that holds our bikes and ALL our equipment, water, sports drinks, and all our other “stuff”…but we also have to travel with two mini vans and two turtle top buses.  37 riders and a great support crew to help us out…let me just say – they make our trip SO much easier and I know that MANY of the RAGBRAI riders would give their bikes to have the crew that we have…

I rode in one of the turtle top buses and for about 10 minutes of the trip the A/C worked…for the rest of the trip we had no A/C and had to roll down the windows to get the air to circulate in the van.  The “party” van quickly became the “sweaty” van.  Honestly – we were doing everything we could to try and get cool…and if you don’t believe me then you have to check out the photos of us putting ice bags on our heads to try and fight off the heat…I guess it was just another phase of our “conditioning” prior to beginning first stage of our RAGBRAI adventure.

The van rides are always interesting…we had an awesome driver…thank you Mary for getting us to Sioux City safely…and let me just say….Cindy and John Brewer were GREAT hosts for Team Peacock.  We had streamers in the trees in front of their house and COOL signs for us in the front yard and also in the back yard.  THANKS to Staci and her kids…Elizabeth, James and oh goodness – umm – okay if I get this wrong I am SO sorry but I shooting for Lauren…if not…Staci – please let me know and I will make a correction to this blog…but the signs were AWESOME!!!  And also the pool party was also TOTALLY cool…Staci was so kind to allow us VIP access to the pool and I totally showed James (Staci’s 10 year old son) how to dive off the diving board…(he may claim otherwise – but WE really know who is the winner…LOL)  That was MY highlight of the evening.

A few of us went to the “kick-off” concert in Sioux City…Smash Mouth….but I wish I could say something good about the concert…BUT I can’t…sorry Smash Mouth – you need to get some more songs and stop covering Van Halen at YOUR concerts…you’re not a cover band!!!

Tomorrow – Ride #1 begins…

Sanders where you at? Figured there would be a blog from you giving a recap of day 1. How did it go? Any Apple Juice for Duff? Did Tim let Holly do all the work on the tandem? Is Elissa flying like the wind on her new bike? How about Leif, cruising along at a fast pace? Rep. Wenthe, keeping everyone in line? Shea, how’s your first RAGBRAI as a rider? I’m dying for an update, my friend! Wish Billie and I could be there with you all, and hope you are having fun riding for the great students of UIU. Read Sheila’s blog a little bit ago; ok, did Justin Marchant buy in to Duff’s RAGBRAI video about this being a race? :) Chris, you know you have to set him straight and tell him he needs to take in the spectacle that is RAGBRAI :) …I guess I’m just wishing I were there to give Justin a hard time :) Give him a shout out from me, will you Chris?…Have a great day #2 all of you fellow Team Peacock riders, and Chris I expect to hear from you on this blog, my friend, otherwise I’ll be dialing you up on the cell :)

Lauren, James, and Elizabeth read your blog and say “Thanks”!! I asked James if he got your statement about the winner – he replied “Yes, I won!!”. Sounds like you would have had more fun in “the hood” hanging out and swimming in the moonlight! We hope you have a great second day with Team Peacock!!

Have fun and be safe. I am sure that tomorrow we will get to hear about how sore you are. Try and behave yourself for once.
