Upper Iowa Students in the Wildlife Management Class are conducting frog and toad surveys for the United State Geological Survey to monitor their population distributions in Fayette, Iowa. Numerous Spring Peepers and Boreal Chorus Frogs were heard during the survey.
On Thursday March 31st at 1:30 pm the Upper Iowa University Ecology Class conducted a successful 40 acre burn just south of the town of Hawkeye in Fayette, County. This burn was to help maintain populations of native plant species for a conservation reserve program acreage. Great help was also provided by Dana Franzen of the Red Buffalo Prescribed Burning Company.
