Below are maps showing images of pheasant locations from two sites we are currently tracking birds. The first is in the Rush Farm Prairie Preserve and the second is outside the town of West Union Iowa.
Below are images of the Upper Iowa University Pheasant Tracking Team. These students are currently monitoring the spatial movements of wild ring-necked pheasants using GPS and VHF telemetry.
Trapped 4 hen pheasants this morning. Good news for the Rush Farm population of ring-necked pheasants. Click on the video below to see the capture of the 4 birds and how the birds were calmed. They were released soon after. Our goal is to trap and collar roosters not hens.
