We have spent a good portion of the day getting ready to present to educational consultants in Juigalpa. This should prove to be very interesting since our presentation will be translated to Spanish. Our major learning objective is to demonstrate that children learn best when they feel supported and accepted. I think it will be a good presentation and I plan to video tape some of it for your viewing.
Hey Steve,
I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’m just wondering if you think that the alarming increase in suicide rate is correlated with the civil war, poverty, the mental health of the people, or etc?
I look forward to hear your thoughts.
Hi, I’m sure the presentation went well. I’m curious — what do the words “supportive” and “accepted” mean to the providers and residents with whom you are interacting? Do they have any meanings/behaviors embedded in those words that would be useful to emphasize back in the states? \\SZ
Hi Steve & Carola. I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’m trying to imagine how I would give such a presentation. My question: how do you convincingly demonstrate that children learn best when they feel supported and accepted? –Dave–
You bring up some very good points. Katarina said that everyone she knows had a family member that had dies in the civil war. Hurricane Emily also took a savage toll on the nation with entire towns lost in the landslide. One could only wonder how this effects the psyche of the youth and their families.
